They kept the poor thing in a pen outside the house. There is a MAJOR problem with pet bunnies in that most kids lose interest in the first six months and then they end up neglected, abandoned, or worse. I believe Rusty, like Templeton, ended up at the farm as well! So think twice...Simohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03436092838615543095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-164668092336456174.post-66964914939946948432008-04-17T10:58:00.000-07:002008-04-17T10:58:00.000-07:00Thank you, Eva. As only some of you know, it is one of my life dreams to have a bunny -- the kind that lives like a cat, sorta free, litterbox-trained, who will cuddle on my lap. This is a dream deferred for the next long while, as we share our house with a large, hyper canine, but don't think for a minute I've given it up. In fact, they looked just like the Dutch rabbit in the picture (yes, I gravitate toward black and white animals - I think it stems from my early affection for Mickey Mouse.) I took home a couple of bunnies over Easter break when I was in 1st grade and in a month we had like 10 rabbits. The number dwindled over time due to the mother's odd taste for small rabbits. Luckily, my favorite, Templeton, grew up to be a very happy bunny. To avoid any conflict with our cat Cabbage, we drove to a no-kill animal shelter in Libertyville and left the bunny family with a nice old women.
