IMW Teen Bands are on a tear this year. Trace spent the Summer in our first ever video production class and came out with this video for their original jam "I'm in Love with an Angel". Then this week, they were invited along with All Girls band Fatal Attraction for a private audition for Season 5 of America's Got Talent. Both groups killed it, and the producers asked a lot of questions which seemed aimed at the possibility of combining the two groups for a single act. We'll know more in February.

IMW All-Star Jam
Chicago Punk Band Rise Against contacted IMW a while back with news that they were making their sold out upcoming 10th anniversary show at metro a benefit for IMW, and that they wanted to come in and do a workshop with the kids. The band came in yesterday and the visit exceeded everybody's expectations. They spent 4 hours at Fuller Park during which they jammed with the kids, gave a talk about their road to success, answered every question asked, and signed posters for each and every child. Whether or not their music is your bag, its pretty cool that these guys took the time out to make an impact by having a real and meaningful exchange with the kids, giving them a rare opportunity that very few kids get to see the rock star thing demystified from the inside looking out.
This early session jam with IMW's own Pop Tots and Rise Against's Tim and Joe was a real hoot. Funny that the guys are learning the song on the spot by watching the moves of six year guitarist Leah.

Ukulele Cabaret: Uke Horrifica
If you want to upstage Mike, Heather and I (since we opened Saturday's uke show playing Dracula's Wedding by Outkast, too) - do it like these women.
Bring a f'in tap dancer:
And while this was definitely a highlight - it would be difficult to chose just one from what was a uniformly excellent, absurdly varied group of musicians. More videos soon!
