RIP Farah
Not exactly what we expected for the third....
This image of Farah was huge in my early childhood, as was Charlie's Angels.
Howard Simons Remembers:
" I was just discussing with coworkers, and reminiscing about Farah. You were pretty young, but remember Dad brought home posters that one of his vendors had given him? I was the most popular kid in 7th grade for 1 day when I brought in that poster, and all those horny jr high boys were crowded around my locker to get a look. It all ended quickly when (ALAS) Scott Wolf the bully ripped it in half. I think I cried (reinforcing my nerd status)."

Movie Review
Roger Ebert's review of "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen":
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" is a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine. Such are the meager joys. If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together."
I sorta liked the first one.

Lafe Effect Street Beat
As I was walking from my office to the Millenium Park Garage at 2:30 yesterday, I noticed that Randolph east of Michigan was completely blocked off and that there were scores of police cars, paddy wagons, fire engines and ambulances lining the street east of The Harris theatre. I figured they were making "The Negotiator Two" or something, then noticed the two workman at the garage entrance pointing upwards towards a condo building. I followed the line and saw a figure about 25 stories high draped over the ledge and rocking back and forth (actual photo above). After watching for ten minutes or so, I went on my way, hoping for the best. I was relieved to learn this morning that the jumper was talked down this morning at 1:23 AM, 11 hours after I happened on the scene.

Revo is attempting a rendition of Leslie Gore's You Don't Own Me. Not sure when this video was recorded, but it's awesome.

My iTunes shuffled out this one today. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. It is the perfect storm of good/bad.
