It seems like the Republicans had to do something groundbreaking on their side since there were so many historical milestones on the Dem's side. Also, they'll probably pick up a bunch of Hill's peeps that way. Interesting. I don't know much about her.

Indisputably the least qualified candidate for national office in our lifetimes.

18 months as governor of Alaska (she's already under investigation by the legislature). Before that, she was the mayor of a town of 8000 people. Pro-life, pro-gun, mother of 4.

WHAT A JOKE.

John McCain would be the oldest man ever elected President, and this is who would be our Commander-In-Chief if he kicks?

I cannot WAIT to see the Biden-Palin debate:

JB: "I went to Georgia and met with the Russians to hash out a cease-fire agreement."

SP: "I kept the caribou out of Fairbanks."

It is OVER.

She reminds me of Dr. Alan Pearl's wife in Waiting for Guffman

i think it was a gross miscalculation by the mccain camp. are the PUMAS really going to vote for a mccain ticket that has a woman on it simply because she is a woman? her unimpressive record is TERRIBLE on 'women's issues.' i just don't see those hillary hold outs being so pissed that they will throw the (unborn) baby out with the bath water.

it's also only groundbreaking in that she is a republican, as mafia-princess geraldine ferraro was the first female ever nominated for VP in the US.

the scary part: the republicans have an amazing record of electing the MOST 'unelectable' VPs---Agnew, Quail . . . Palin? oh my.

1 more point: aren't all the mouth breathing middle of the road men who are threatened by hilary going to not like the idea of this person being a (very faint) heartbeat away from being commander-in-chief???

This move is completely offensive to me. Seriously. Palin is tragically under-qualified and represents the backward niche of our country that subsists on fear and ignorance. There are several more qualified individuals that happen to be women. This is classic cut-throat, dare I say reckless maneuvering on the part of the campaign, yet typically Republican. They plan to soak up the swath of conservative, narrow-minded middle Americans with this Kotex running mate, and it just might work.

Yeah, that's the truly disturbing part. The tactic is unsurprising and I wouldn't expect anything less (more?) from the Republicans, but any female voter who falls for this jive (and is not ON PRINCIPLE pro-life, pro-gun [yeah, that's the best], anti-environment, pro-oil dependency, pro-abstinence only education and so on) and relies on her own vagina as some sort of magnetic device for determining her vote should be publicly shamed.
