ECB Pt. 2

After a bizzare set by all girls vampire band All in the Fangily as Mama Cassand The Lemonade Bubblegum came two truly inspired concepts. The first was Mean Ohio, who whipped the place into a frenzy with their incendiary take on the Stax Soul review, complete with spot-on costumes and a set of R&B classics played like a combination of Sam & Dave, the Sonics, and Sha Na Na on crack.

These guys were a tough act to follow, but no problem for Kid Million, who killed it as the Beastie Boys with Howard behind the turntables and Brendan, Riff, and Alvy as MCA, Mike D and Adrock, trading rhymes and moves with vigor and ease. David's Adrock was the most inspired vocal performance of the evening...take that Ursula!

Last up was the ten piece Que Rico! Latin Big Band, bolstered this year by the Sure-Bet Horns. From the stage the highlight was Smooth Operator, played in a sultry and smoky latin groove with Jane Rico on lead vocal and an electrifying solo from Nicky Rico. Sadly, my camera done run out one song into Beastie Boys, so maybe Tony Rico may has some QR to post...

After a night like that I can't wait to see what lies in store for next year. We want the Lads back!

Isn't there a way to do this twice a year? I have always wanted to bring back April Fools day as a legit holiday.
